Colours for all occasions.

Choosing the right hand dryer colour may seem like a pretty straightforward thing but there are some issues which may not be immediately obvious that you may like to take into consideration. Read on to find out why the choice of the right hand dryer colour may be more complicated that you were thinking.

It’s just a box on the wall of the washroom – surely the colour is not very important? The majority of hand dryers purchased in the UK are white – and in fact some ranges such as the JETBOX range, are only available in white – it’s a colour which implies simplicity and cleanliness – and will usually match with the sanitary ware and other units in the washroom. So what else should you consider?

Décor

Of course the most obvious issue is whether the colour matches your current décor, and whether it is likely to fit in with future décor, and this is clearly important. It’s also the reason that 95% of hand dryers are in ‘neutral’ colours such as white, black or a metal finish.

Disabilities

Something less obvious but very important is how well your hand dryer colour choice helps users of your washroom who are visually impaired. Particularly in a large washroom, having hand dryers the same colour as the walls can make it difficult for those with a visual impairment to see.

Cleaning

Polished chrome and brushed chrome finishes look really smart when they are clean, but can look terrible if they are covered in fingerprints. Now, although it’s a complete mystery to me as to why and how people touch hand dryers, this does appear to happen for some reason!

Hygiene

Quite a few hand dryers have some form of anti-bacterial coating which kills bacteria and viruses on contact, (Steritouch on Warner Howard dryers is a good example of this) but often this is only available on painted surfaces, not on brushed or polished chrome finishes.

So whilst some may think that considering such things is super-nerdy, and indeed it may well be, we still think that these issues should always at least be considered when choosing the colour of your hand dryer.
