You see, she has never disputed the fact that having a hand dryer in our bathroom at home would be a good thing in many ways – they are certainly more hygienic (don’t believe everything you read in the Daily Mail!), they save time and money because of less laundry of towels, and of course, they make the hand washing experience just that little bit more fun. But the problem has always been that she has refused to give our bathroom at home that ‘motorway services’ or ‘pub loo’ feel to it.
And to be honest, although I really wanted one, I had to agree with her.
But coming across the Mini Jet Dryer has changed all that. There are two important features of the Mini Jet Dryer which have resulted in my wife not just giving in, but being entirely supportive of the hand dryer which now sits proudly on the wall in our bathroom.
The first is that it is tiny. In fact, it is the world’s smallest hand dryer. Measuring just 159mm by 250mm, it fits inconspicuously in our bathroom and has even gone unnoticed by some visitors (it is apparently 40% smaller than a page of A4 paper). And it is not just a scaled down version of a ‘traditional’ commercial hand dryer: in fact it looks more like a large soap dispenser than a hand dryer.
And secondly, it works. And that, I can tell you, is quite some achievement, especially considering that so many of the so-called ‘budget hand dryers’ on the market are so ineffectual that most people using them walk away drying their hands on their trousers, moaning to their friends about how terrible the dryer was. That is certainly not the case with this: the 900 Watt motor and heater give a nicely targeted and powerful stream of warm air which gives a drying time of less than 20 seconds (although we have noticed that some people take a lot longer, just because they like using it!).
The net result? I finally have a hand dryer in my bathroom at home, my wife is more than happy with the reduced laundry, and our children and their friends have unanimously described the situation as cool, wicked, and sick (these are all apparently good things).
For quite a while now, hand dryer fans have been claiming that 'in the future, everyone will have a hand dryer in their bathroom': well, i think the future has now arrived.
