The 7787840 is the genuine Heatrae Sadia 2.5kW element assembly with integrated thermal cut-out for the Supreme range of boiling water units. It is the current part number and replaces the obsolete 95606952.
What it does
The assembly combines the heating element and its over-temperature cut-out in a single unit. The element brings the stored water up to serving temperature; the cut-out is the safety half, opening the circuit if the temperature passes its fixed limit. Supplying them together means the safety device is always renewed alongside the element it protects.
Symptoms of failure
- No hot or boiling water, with the element reading open circuit
- Unit taking far longer than normal to come up to temperature
- Cut-out operating repeatedly and locking the unit out
- Heavy scale build-up on the element, common in hard water areas and a frequent cause of premature failure
Compatible models
Fits the Heatrae Sadia Supreme range in both finishes - the Supreme White water heaters and the Supreme SS 150, 165 and 180 stainless models - along with the Supreme 140, 155 and 170, and the Heatstore Ultima Profile Eco in 2.5 litre and 5.0 litre versions. If your existing part is marked 95606952, this is the assembly that replaces it.
Installation
Isolate the unit electrically and drain it before removing the assembly. These are boiling water appliances, so allow the vessel to cool fully before starting work. No gas or G3 qualification applies. Electrical connection should be made by a qualified electrician. Where scale caused the failure, address the water treatment or the replacement will fail the same way.
