Genuine Instanta XE857SP Potentiometer (temperature adjustor)
The Instanta XE857SP is a genuine OEM potentiometer (temperature adjustor) for Instanta commercial water boilers and boiling-water taps. It is supplied as an original manufacturer part, not a pattern equivalent.
What it does
The sensor tells the control board what is happening inside the tank - either the water temperature or the water level, depending on the part. The board can only regulate as accurately as the sensor reports, so a drifting or failed sensor shows up as a control fault even though the board itself is sound.
Signs the sensor has failed
- Water running much hotter or cooler than the setting
- The tank overfilling, or refusing to fill
- Temperature swinging widely between draw-offs
- A level or temperature error code on the display

Fitting
This is an electrical component inside a mains-powered appliance. Isolate the boiler at the supply and allow it to cool before removing any panel. Replacement by a competent engineer or a qualified electrician is recommended. No gas or G3 qualification applies to these units.
