The Instanta XETR6SP is a genuine OEM dual pole safety cut-out - set at 90°C for Instanta commercial water boilers and boiling-water taps. Instanta describe it as an over-boil thermal cut-out (air vent). It is supplied as an original manufacturer part, not a pattern equivalent.
What it does
The thermal cut-out is the boiler's safety backstop. It sits against the tank or the air vent and breaks the supply to the heating circuit if the water passes a fixed temperature limit, protecting the unit from a dry-boil or a failed thermostat. Once it has operated it locks the element out until it is reset or renewed.
Signs the thermal cut-out has failed
- The boiler powers up normally but never heats
- The unit stops heating shortly after a dry-boil or an overfill
- Repeated nuisance tripping with no other obvious fault
- The cut-out will not reset, or trips again immediately

Fitting
