The McAlpine MACTUN‑1 is a premium combined tundish and non‑return valve unit engineered for modern domestic and commercial plumbing systems. It features 15 mm and 22 mm compression inlets/outlets (or variants thereof) to accommodate typical pipe sizes in UK/European installations, making it an ideal solution where a tundish discharge needs protection against backflow and odours.
At its core is a silicone membrane seal, which opens fully to allow discharge (from a pressure relief valve, thermostatic relief, or condensate drain) to flow freely, then closes securely to prevent sewer gas or foul odour from entering the premises. Unlike spring‑based designs, this membrane is unaffected by hard water, scaling, or mineral deposits, giving it superior durability.
