The McAlpine WHB‑1 is a compact “space‑saver” basin trap and waste valve combo designed for wash hand basins where every bit of under‑basin space matters. Constructed from durable polypropylene, it features a 1¼″ BSP female inlet nut paired with a 1¼″ universal compression outlet, making it compatible with most standard basin installations
The standout feature is its self‑closing waste valve using an internal membrane rather than a traditional water seal. Under flow, the water pressure opens the membrane to allow discharge; when flow stops, the membrane closes tightly, preventing foul odours or sewer gases from entering the room. Because this design lacks a continuous water seal, it won’t dry out through evaporation or disuse.
