When looking to purchase Fridge/Freezers for a commercial kitchen there’s lots of different options to be aware of. A few different options you have would be the shape/size, capacity, temperature rating, electrical rating. For example, you can get joint fridge/freezers or you can have separate ones.

Fridges and freezers are a must in every home and commercial environment. Although most of the units we sell are for commercial environments. The wine coolers and display fridges are very poplar with some domestic customers.

Why not get yourself a display fridge dedicated to your favourite beverages?

In most cases for commercial environments the fridge/freezers are separate items. You’ll find that in restaurants/pubs they will need quite a few of each one. Having worked in a small village pub, they had 2 single door fridges, 1 double door fridge, 1 triple back bar cooler, 1 double back bar cooler, 1 single back bar cooler, 2 upright freezers and 1 chest freezer.

Fridges:

There are lots of different types on fridges available to suit your needs. From the conventional single door upright fridge to a refrigerated pizza and salad prep counter. You are able to see the full range here. Also, in this range there’s the display fridges. Starting from a small Countertop display fridge (46L), to an upright back bar cooler (490L). Or a Multideck unit like you see in canteens or in supermarkets storing the sandwiches and drinks.

Capacity:

One way to reduce the number of options would be to decide on what capacity you require or what combination. In terms of what we offer the smallest fridge is the Polar Countertop Display Fridge DM071 and this has a capacity of 46L. The largest being the Gram K 1270L Double Door Fridge, with a usable capacity of 863L.

Refrigerant:

Fridges and freezers have a few different refrigerants that are used.  With the most common one used in fridges being R600a as it is the most universal refrigeration. It is important to check which gas is used because a couple have been banned and no longer in use.

Such as R12, this is banned because of the elements that are used. This has since been replaced by R134a however, this is prone to blockages. We recommend that you research which refrigerant is used before you purchase.

Freezers:

Just like with Fridges there are also lots of different types of freezers available. Starting with the most popular and traditional type, the Chest Freezer where there are many different sizes and variations to pick from. Going all the way up to upright large freezers and also a blast freezer.

What is a blast chiller/freezer?

It is a unit that is able to cool or freeze food down extremely quickly, which is then safe from bacterial growth. With a normal freezer it takes a lot of time for it to get the temperature down to a point where it is safe from bacteria growth. This can cause problems especially if they food is almost out of date before you freeze it as that could actually enhance bacteria growth. As a result, blast freezers are becoming more and more popular in commercial environments as a pre-stop before going into the chest freezer. This unit has a chiller capacity of 45kg from +70°C to +3°C in 90 min. Freezing capacity of 27kg from +70°C to -18°C in 4 hours.
