The convenience of instantaneous water heaters have made them increasingly popular, but care must be taken to install them for the correct reasons and applications. Instantaneous (or tankless) water heaters have advantages over storage type water heaters including size and running costs. (you only ever heat water you use). Also, the hot water never runs out!
Until recently, the format of this type of water heater has been similar for most brands, but now there is a new style and shape from Trianco, a long established tried and trusted brand.
This is the Trianco Aztec 8kW Instantaneous Water Heater, model number 4051.
The first thing to notice is how really flat and slim it is at just
75mm. We are not aware of any other water heater that slim. It is of a very modern design (almost iPad-like) and has all the settings and info you need at the bottom of the front panel.
The nearest comparison in the Zip range would be the CEX-U or CEX-O. (undersink or above sink models)
The CEX water heaters can be set at either 6.6 or 8.8kw on installation.
Here’s a table to show how they compare:
Height | Width | Depth | Litres per min @38 deg C | LED screen | Warranty
Trianco Aztec 8kw | 390mm | 250mm | 75mm | 4L/min | Yes | 2 years
Zip CEX-U set at 8.8kw | 294mm | 177mm | 108mm | 3.6L/min | No | 1 year |
According to the above specification, the Trianco offers a greater flow rate, has more control and information on a touch screen, and a longer warranty. At the time of writing this, the Trianco was also a fair bit cheaper than the Zip.
The Zip is, however, shorter and narrower.
