The 7883639 inlet control valve is the genuine Heatrae Sadia cold water inlet control fitted to Express and Aquarius vented electric water heaters. It is a 15mm x 15mm on/off valve that isolates and regulates the cold mains feed into the heater, and it is the current replacement for the older part number 95605444.
What it does
The valve sits on the cold inlet of the heater and controls the flow of mains water into the storage vessel. On these open-outlet heaters, cold water entering the inlet is what pushes hot water out of the spout, so the inlet control valve governs both the fill and the delivery of hot water at the tap.
Symptoms of a failed inlet control valve
- No flow, or a badly reduced flow, from the outlet spout when the tap is opened
- Water continuing to pass when the valve is shut off
- Dripping or weeping from the valve body or its 15mm connections
- A stiff, seized or free-spinning control handle
Compatible models
Fits Heatrae Sadia Express 84, Express 91, Express 7/1, Express 7/3 and Express 15/3, and Aquarius 7/1, 7/3, 10/1, 10/3, A7 and A10, including the 2001 to 2005 revisions. Also used on the HS55. If your existing valve is marked 95605444, this is the part that replaces it. Always check the part number on your existing valve before ordering.
Installation
These are vented, open-outlet water heaters, so no G3 unvented qualification is required and this is not a gas appliance part. Isolate the mains supply and drain down before removing the old valve. Fitting by a competent plumber is recommended.
