Herschel iQ R3 Thermostat T-R3
The Herschel iQ R3 is a mains-wired thermostat and receiver in one unit, so there's no separate control box needed in the room. It senses the room temperature and passes that data to the Smart Life app over 2.4GHz WiFi, which then sends the on/off commands back to the heater.
All day-to-day control — schedules, setpoints, open window detection — happens through the app rather than on the unit. The only physical control is the boost button, which gives you 1 hour of extra heat regardless of what the app schedule says.
It's rated for up to 1.8kW per unit at 10A, or can trigger a contactor for larger loads, and works with Herschel's Comfort and Inspire infrared panel ranges. For multi-room setups, it pairs with Herschel Smart Switches, the Touch Screen Control Centre, or Four Scene Control for centralised control from one hub. Voice control via Alexa or Google Assistant is also supported through the app.
A couple of things worth flagging before you spec it: the R3 only works with Herschel heaters — using it with another brand voids the warranty — and it isn't interchangeable with the older R2 unit. Setpoint range is 5-35°C, it's IP20 rated for wall or ceiling mounting, and it carries a 2-year warranty.
