The Ideal 177478 Fan Gasket can be used in Ideal boilers to create a tight, leak-free joint at the interface between the combustion fan and adjoining components such as the flue connection or fan housing. This gasket is made from heat-resistant, compression-stable material that retains its sealing properties even under repeated thermal cycling and prolonged exposure to combustion gases and temperatures. Its primary function is to prevent unwanted air ingress or flue gas escape at the fan junction, which helps maintain the correct pressure balance and airflow dynamics required for safe and efficient combustion. When the fan gasket becomes brittle, cracked, or deformed from heat stress or age, air and gas leaks can lead to unstable combustion pressure, unusual fan noise, ignition issues, or fault codes related to airflow/pressure problems. Replacing a worn or damaged fan gasket with the authentic Ideal 177478 unit restores proper sealing integrity, supports optimal combustion fan performance, and contributes to dependable, efficient boiler operation over the long term.
