New Rivals for Megaflo cylinders

Megaflo is a range of cylinders within the Heatrae Sadia UK brand. For years it has been the industry standard and best option for an electric cylinder, with installer's across the nation knowledgable in the range and capable in installation servicing and more. around 2018, other major competitors relished at Megaflo's patent expiration on the inclusion of internal expansion vessles, and ever since then other brands have caught up with and exceeded the Megaflo range!

One reason for this is because before the Megaflo, all cylinders had a external expansion vessel connected to the cold feed to deal with the expansion of water when heated. Heatrae Sadia then made the tank slightly bigger and put the expansion vessel inside the cylinder. This idea has been very popular with installers and customers as it saves space and leaves only one cylinder to install for your hot water. Up until last year, Heatrae Sadia have had a patent on having internal expansion vessel inside the hot water cylinder. However, this patent ran out last year and now other companies are producing their own ‘Megaflo’ cylinders.

Joule the biggest rival for the Megaflo?

Joule who over the last few years have become one UK’s fastest growing brand for electric water heating, have produced a cylinder to rival the Megaflo.

The Joule Cyclone Air Cylinder (Evolution). This cylinder matches the Megaflo for performance, reliability and quality, at a cheaper price. The Cyclone Air is available either as a direct or indirect model. It also comes in a range of different capacities 100, 125, 150, 170, 200, 250 and 300 Litres. It also comes with a pre-plumbed cold feed assembly.

How about Kingspan?

Kingspan are one of the market leading manufactures of hot water products and have been in the industry for over 85 years.

Now they have produced a cylinder which has got internal expansion, the Kingspan Albion Ultrasteel plus.  By having the internal expansion vessel, it will provide up to 14 percent more hot water compared to a cylinder with an external vessel. Like the Joule and Megaflo the Ultrasteel Plus also comes as a direct or indirect model. This is available in 120, 150, 180, 210, 250 and 300 Litres.
