The unusual design of the Dyson Airblade 9kJ will produce a ‘marmite’ reaction from most people – they will either love it or hate it. Never a company to shy away from revolutionary design, the 9kJ (names after its power consumption) will certainly stand out in any washroom. It is switchable between two power modes. Max mode for busy areas of high footfall or Eco mode for energy-efficiency and acoustic control.
With Airblade technology the Airblade 9kJ can dry your hands in 10-12 seconds. The Dyson Airblade 9kJ hand dryer uses just 9.1 kilojoules of energy per dry. This is the quietest Dyson Airblade hand dryer yet, it has been acoustically engineered to minimise the noise in the washroom. Designed with two 0.45mm curved apertures which creates 388mph sheets of air that follows the contours of your hands. The dryer has a very unique design which enables it to get the highest performance with being extremely energy-efficient.

With the dryer only protruding 100mm from the wall, makes this dryer DDA compliant. Although hand dryers are not explicitly mentioned in the DDA, in the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) it specifies that in the corridor of a washroom, there should be no protrusion from the wall greater than 4 inches (100mm). There’re only a few dryers that are compliant with this act, with 2 of them being from Dyson, this one and the HU02. Airdri also have two dryers that are DDA compliant. The Airdri Quad and the Airdri Quazar. The only other dryer that is compliant is the Handy Dryers Beaver.
