The latest Dyson digital motor in this HU02 model is one of the world's smallest fully-integrated 1000W motors. It's the only hand dryer motor powerful enough to draw in up to 30 litres of air a second through a HEPA filter, and then dry hands in 12 seconds.
One of the great claims of the Dyson Airblade V hand dryer range is that they are extremely hygienic. They use two HEPA filters which capture 99.9% of bacteria and viruses in the washroom air before using this air to dry your hands. So hands are dried using cleaner air, not dirty air. In fact this means it helps clean the air in the washroom generally.
Particularly now that the Airblade V uses a 1000w motor, it is extremely cheap to run: it has no heating element, (heat is drawn from the motor and used to warm the air) and so all the power is dedicated to generating the high speed blades of air. As with all hand dryers, the running costs are substantially lower than using paper towels.
