Washroom Mess - Mitsubishi Smart

Preventing and containing the mess in a washroom is a serious issue – without proper controls and practices, you can end up with dangerous slippery floors and bacterial growth and unpleasant odours. A dirty washroom can harbour harmful bacteria, viruses, and fungi that can cause various illnesses, especially if you have vulnerable people in your home. A cluttered bathroom can be a safety hazard, especially if there are slippery surfaces or objects left on the floor. This can lead to falls, which can be especially dangerous for elderly or disabled people.

A possible source of all this is the water which is removed from hands during drying. This has become more of an issue with the development of high-speed, low-energy hand dryers which blast the water off the hands rather than more slowly evaporating it from the hand by using comparatively slow, warm air.

In most low and medium-usage environments, this does not represent too much of a problem, but in high-usage areas, it can be both inconvenient and dangerous.

The good news is that there is a solution for hands-in dryers. Most (but not all) hands-in dryers have a water collection facility, whereby the water is caught and stored in a removable tray at the bottom of the dryer. Taking this a step further, Mitsubishi has designed the Mitsubishi Slim hand dryer to ensure that the water flow is near-perfect and ends up in the tray.

The video below shows how this works, and compares it to a (well-known) brand of dryer which does not have a drip tray at all. In fact, this other manufacturer claims it is actually a design feature that allows the water to end up on the floor so that it can be cleaned up by the cleaners. We’ll leave it to you to decide whether that sounds like a design feature – or a mistake.
