What type of water do you need?

The most common combinations of what a modern instant tap can produce are boiling, boiling and chilled, and boiling, chilled and sparkling. There are other combinations, but these are certainly the most common.

Although adding chilled water to the tap is definitely an advantage and something many people feel they cannot do without, do be aware that it does add a significant amount of cost to the product, and it does require most space to be taken up underneath the worktop, because it comes with a separate chiller unit, and usually an additional water tank to hold the chilled water.

One alternative to this is to add the option of ‘ambient’ water dispensing to the boiling option – this still gives you filtered, ‘cold’ water, but is just not chilled. The resulting price is considerably cheaper and doesn’t take up much more space under the sink. If you select ‘boiling’ above, you will also be presented with boiling and ambient taps at the end.

Adding Sparkling option also increases the cost, and starts to incur the additional running costs of the bottles of CO2 gas used for the carbonation - and these are not particularly cheap either. But there's no denying it's a great luxury to have!
