What type of environment are you going to use your instantaneous water heater for?

Instantaneous water heaters can be convenient, efficient and economical on both power and space when used in the right situation, but do be aware that they have some important limitations:

• Most units will need a separate power cable from your main consumer unit because they use more power than your standard ring main can deliver.
• The units should be no more than 2m from the outlet, because you will suffer temperature loss if it is much longer.
• Although they can cope with more than one outlet per heater, this is only true when the outlets are not in use at the same time.

And importantly (and this is the single most common question we get asked!) – a domestic instantaneous water heater is NOT powerful enough the fill a bath. We know that some of our competitors and some manufacturers will gloss over this, but we DO NOT recommend an instantaneous heater if you have to fill a bath.

You will end up being disappointed – it would be a bit like trying to fill a bath using the water from a standard shower: by the time it is full, it will have cooled down.
