The McAlpine MACTUN‑2 is a high‑quality combined tundish and non‑return valve designed for use with hot water systems: cylinders, boilers, water heaters, pressure reducing valves (PRVs), condensate lines, and air conditioning units. It features dual inlet adaptors (15 mm or 22 mm) feeding into a 1¼″ (32 mm) compression outlet, providing flexibility in plumbing connections.
At its heart is a silicone membrane seal that operates without any spring mechanism. During discharge (e.g. from a PRV or TRV), the membrane opens fully to allow free flow, then automatically recloses to form a tight seal. This prevents foul odours or sewer gases from returning into the building via the waste or soil pipe, while still ensuring smooth, unimpeded discharge. The spring‑free design ensures the membrane is not adversely affected by hard water, and the product includes a removable top “window” for inspection or cleaning.
