What each filter does
Zip's limescale cartridges remove the carbonate hardness that causes scale, protecting the HydroTap from mineral deposits, and include a 0.5 micron carbon block stage with silver ions that also reduces cloudiness, taste, odour and chlorine. Zip says its MicroPurity 0.2 micron filtration removes sediment, chlorine, heavy metals such as lead, microplastics, bacteria and parasites such as cryptosporidium and giardia.
Which pack to choose
Zip makes three limescale kits: 95591 for home, 95592 for light work use and 95593 for medium to heavy work use. Its 93701 filter is for home taps and the 93702 for taps at work.
Changing the filters
Zip recommends replacing the limescale cartridge every 6 months, or sooner if water quality drops, with its bypass valve set to suit your water hardness. The HydroTap's filter light flashes when the taste filter is due: see our guide to resetting the Zip HydroTap filter light.
Fitting
Zip asks for installation by a trained, suitably qualified tradesperson, on a drinking water mains supply, with the limescale cartridge mounted upright and flushed before use. Taps bought before 2024 may also need Zip's 95584 elbow pair: call 01934 253600 and we will check. Both filters are genuine Zip parts, in stock at Electrical Deals Direct.
