A Combi Boiler or 2 Separate Units?
A Single Boiler
Or...
Two Separate Boilers
If you need to heat water for both your heating and your domestic hot water, then you have the choice of purchasing either a single unit (a combi boiler) or two separate units – one for the heating (whether it is for radiators or underfloor heating) and one for the hot water (a direct cylinder).
Separate units are more flexible, so you have more choice over sizes and brands, but combi units are more compact and are likely to be cheaper to install.
If you are choosing 2 separate units, choose the 'Heating' option above, then come back to this page and choose the Hot Water option.
If you are choosing a Combi boiler, you will find that the combis for smaller homes produce the hot water on an as-required basis, for for medium or larger homes, the combi boiler will store hot water in a built-in cylinder.
