Are Noise Levels Important?
Short answer: yes, if you're fitting a dryer somewhere sound-sensitive.
Old-style hand dryers worked by generating heat to evaporate the water off your hands, so most of the power went into the heating element. Modern dryers work differently: high-speed motors blast the water off instead, and any heat is just there as comfort. So , the more power a dryer has the louder it tends to be.
So if you're fitting one in a place where noise matters, you may need to trade off a bit of power for a bit less noise.
