Genuine Cotherm HRP0198 TSR Dual Function Rod Thermostat
Genuine Cotherm HRP0198 plug-in rod thermostat. Immersion heaters and hot water cylinders taking an 11 inch Cotherm TSR plug-in rod thermostat. Listed against Fabdec Excelsior, Glow-Worm Hydracyl, Vaillant Aurostor and Vaillant Aurotherm.
What it does
A plug-in rod thermostat does two jobs in one body: it holds the stored water at the set temperature, and it carries a safety limiter that cuts the supply if the control side sticks. The stem pushes into the pocket in the immersion heater head, so it reads the water rather than the air around the boss. Cotherm's TSE and TSR differ in how the safety side works, which is why the two are not interchangeable on every appliance: the TSE trips on a double pole bimetallic limiter in the head, while the TSR uses a memory spring down in the invar stem so it senses the water itself. Water that runs scalding, or an immersion that will not heat at all, usually means the stat rather than the element.
