The Megaflo Essential ASHP cylinder is designed for residential air source heat pumps, including Baxi models. This 250 litre model stores 246 litres of mains-pressure hot water in a duplex stainless steel tank with 60mm of polyurethane foam insulation, and has two 3kW immersion heaters for boost.
Why a heat pump cylinder?
A heat pump runs at lower flow temperatures than a boiler, so it needs a much larger coil to heat the water in a sensible time. This cylinder's coil has a surface area of 3 m², against 0.51 m² on the Megaflo Essential Indirect. It also has a secondary return connection for a hot water loop.

Installation
This is an unvented cylinder, so it must be fitted by a G3 qualified installer (Building Regulations Part G). The immersion heaters should be wired by a qualified electrician.
